TCU Faculty/Staff Wireless Windows XP SetupStep 1: Find and Register the Wireless Ethernet Address
- Select Start and select Run
- Type command in the box and press OK
- At the Command Prompt, type ipconfig/all (with no spaces) and press enter
- Find the Ethernet Adapter Wireless Network Connection
- Find the Physical Address
- Write down the address
- Send email to help@tcu.edu or phone the Computer Help Desk at 817-257-6855 with the address and request to register the address

Step 2: Install Patches for Windows XP
Since Windows XP SP2 does not support WPA2, you will need to download and install two updates for Windows.
- First, download Patch #1
- When prompted to Run or Save, choose Run
- Follow the prompts to install the patch and restart your computer
- Next, download Patch #2
- When prompted to Run or Save, choose Run
- Restart your computer
Step 3: Setup Wireless for Windows XP
- Select the Start button
- Select Connect To
- Right-click the Wireless Network icon
- Select Properties from the menu
- In the Wireless Network Connection Properties window, check the box to Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings
- Click the Add button

- Network name: FSWPA2 (in all caps)
- Network Authentication: WPA2
- Data encryption: AES
- Select the Authentication tab

- EAP Type: Protected EAP (PEAP)
- Check the box to Authenticate as computer when computer information is available
- Click the Properties button

- Uncheck the box for Validate server certificate
- Select Authentication method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
- Check the box for Enable Fast Reconnect
- Click the Configure button

- Check the box for Automatically use my Windows logon name and password

- Shutdown the computer and restart with the the "wired network" still connected, but do not turn on radio yet. Log into the machine and turn on Radio.
- If you see a pop up concerning server certificate, click OK to accept certificate method.
