ResNet CD Online

The TCU ResNet CD is provided to students for automatic setup of the wireless network connection and installation of the TCU Anti-virus program.  Please click here to download the ResNet CD.

 

Instructions

StuWireless/Ethernet Setup for Windows

 

  1. Uninstall ANY antivirus software that is currently installed on the computer. The CD will detect if any previous antivirus are installed and ask that you remove the software before proceeding. 

  2. After inserting the TCU ResNet CD, the home page will appear followed by a pop up window. (Note: Vista users, Windows will ask to run AUTORUN.exe. Choose Run).
  3. Click on Student Wireless Setup.  

  4. Read the information and write down the numbers at the bottom, starting with 00:XX:XX:XX:XX. Student-Wired address is for connecting to the internet through an Ethernet cable. Student-Wireless is used for connecting to StuWireless.

  5. You must register these addresses before your computer can connect to StuWireless. On a computer with an Internet connection, login to my.tcu.edu using your username and password. Click cancel to close the current window. Click on Helpful Links.

    From the drop-down menu bar click TCU Network Registration. Read the TCU Computing Resources Policy and click Accept to continue. On the TCU Network Registration page, choose Insert New Address.
  6. Under *Subnet, choose either Student-Wireless or Student-Wired.
    For *Computer Type, select your operating system.
    Under Ethernet Address, type in the numbers you wrote down earlier.
    Underneath *My Description, enter a small description of the registration for future reference, i.e. “my Ethernet connection”.
  7. Click Save. Your address has been registered for the TCU Network.
  8. Go back to the main menu and click on the Student Wireless Setup button.

  9. Click OK to setup wireless.
  10. The installation wizard will begin. Windows will flash across your screen as the wizard sets up for StuWireless. After a few minutes, you will see a window followed by a message confirming StuWireless setup on your computer.
    Note: Vista users will see an extra screen, asking for permission to run the setup. Select Allow for setup to continue.

  11. When you try and connect to StuWireless, it will ask for a username, password and domain. The username and password are your TCU username and password that you use to logon to your my.tcu.edu. The domain name remains blank.
    Vista Users:  A window will ask you to Enter/select additional log on information. Enter your TCU username and password.
    XP Users: A pop-up window will appear at the corner of the screen, reading Click here to enter additional log in information. Click on the bubble and enter your TCU username and password.

 


TCU AntiVirus Download for Windows

TCU students have access to TCU’s Symantec Endpoint Protection for free. Students living on campus are required to have TCU’s antivirus installed on their computer. Off-campus students have the option of keeping their own preferred antivirus or using TCU’s. Symantec Endpoint Protection can only be downloaded through my.tcu.edu.

 

  1. Click the TCU Anti-Virus button in the ResNet window to go to my.tcu.edu.


    Login using your TCU username and password. Under Helpful Links, click on Antivirus Download.


  2. Read the rules on the page and agree to the terms of use. Select Submit to move onto the next page.

  3. Choose to install either TCU Antivirus 32-bit Version or TCU Antivirus 64-bit Version. Most computers will require the 32-bit version of the antivirus. If you get an error while trying to install the 32-bit version, return to the antivirus download page and choose to install the 64-bit version.
  4. Choose to Save the file on your computer.

  5. Open the zip file and find the file that says setup.exe. There will be two files named setup –choose the file that has Application under the Type.


  6. The welcome page will appear. Click Next.

  7. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement

  8. After selecting Next, the installation will ask you which setup to install. Select Typical and then select Next again. 

  9. After a few minutes, the setup will complete. Select Finish.
  10. After the installation is complete, please reboot your machine to ensure both the antivirus and StuWireless are working properly. If you encounter any problems or have further questions, contact the Computer Help Desk at 817-257-5855.
