ResNet Requirements
For PC:
- Windows Vista or Windows XP or Windows 7
Limited support is provided for older operating systems and for Windows 7. The Computer Help Desk will gladly assist with setup of other Operating Systems, but will limit support to 2 hours or 2 ResNet Tech appointments. If still unable to connect to ResNet, the student will be referred to an outside vendor or SOS Consultant.
- Network card: 10BaseT (twisted pair) Ethernet card
If the vendor is installing the card, ask for the card address and the setup disk and instruction book.
- Network cable: Category 5, 10BaseT (twisted pair) cable with RJ45 connectors at each end, suggested length between 7 feet and 25 feet.
- Internet applications and web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox)
- Word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs recommended (e.g. Microsoft Office suite)
For Macintosh:
- Macintosh OS X 10.4 or Macintosh OS X 10.5 or Macintosh OS X 10.6

What if my computer does not meet the minimum configuration for the TCU ResNet?
Windows Vista, Windows XP and Mac OS 10.5 are fully supported on the TCU ResNet network. Other operating systems (older OS versions, Linux and game boxes) are allowed but limited support is provided for setup of these operating systems.
Please note that numerous PC and Macintosh labs are available on campus for students without personal computers.
