StuWireless Setup for Macintosh 10.5

Wireless access is available throughout campus. A wireless network card that supports WPA2 is required in order to use the StuWireless network.  The following documentation applies to Mac OS X version 10.5 and above using the built-in AirPort software.


Wireless Setup for Macintosh OS 10.5 Leopard

If you have previously registered your wireless card on the TCU network, then skip to Part 3.

 

Part 1: Find your Wireless Network Address in Macintosh OS 10.5

  • Go to System Preferences and click the Network button
  • Click the AirPort button on the left side of the bar and click the Advanced button
  • Write down the AirPort ID located at the bottom of the window

 

Part 2: Register your Wireless Network Address

  • Login to http://my.tcu.edu/
  • Choose Helpful Links from the menu
  • Choose the link: TCU Network Registration

 

 

  • Carefully read the TCU Computing Resources Policy and click Accept to continue.

  • For the Subnet, choose:  Student-Wireless

  • Fill in Computer Operating System Type:  Macintosh OSX.5 (for 10.5)

  • Fill in the Network (Ethernet) Address

  • For My Description, write a short description for the computer registered, i.e. "Frog's Ethernet", for easy identification.

  • Click the Save button

 

 

Part 3: Wireless Setup for Macintosh OS 10.5

  • From the menu bar, click the Airport icon and make sure AirPort is turned OFF.   



  • Choose Open Network Preferences

     

  • Select Airport on the list of devices and click the Advanced button


  •  

  • Make sure AirPort is selected on he top menu bar.  Click the "+" sign under the box.
  • Make the following selections and entries:
    Network Name: StuWireless
    Security: WPA2 Enterprise 
    Username: ** Leave Blank **
    Password: ** Leave Blank **
    802.1X: Automatic
    Check the box that says Remember this network
    Click Add

     


     

  • Go back to the wireless icon and turn AirPort ON
  • Select the network name StuWireless
  • Once the 802.1X Authentication pops up, Enter your TCU Username and Password

 

  • Click Show Certificate if the Verification Certificate appears.
  • To accept the certificate permanently, click Show Certificate, then highlight the certificate shown below: acswireless.tr.tu.edu.
    Click the selection arrow next to Trust and change the setting for al three dropdowns to Always Trust.  Put a check mark in the box to Always trust "acswireless.tr.tcu.edu".
  • Press Continue.  You should now be connected to the TCU Student Wireless Network.

Configuration of StuWireless is complete!
